Heated Walkway and Landscape Lighting Front Yard Overhaul

Most front yards do one thing - they get you to the door. That's it. No personality, no function after dark, no real wow factor. This homeowner wanted more than that, and honestly, we did too.

Here's what we were working with: a Cape Cod style home with great bones but a front entry that wasn't doing the house any favors. Our job was to design a complete front yard overhaul that looked sharp from the street and actually worked for the people living there. That meant a heated paver walkway, landscape lighting, fresh plantings, and a full lawn installation to tie it all together.

The walkway was the anchor of the whole design. We laid large-format pavers in a clean, light tone with a sweeping curved edge - it pulls your eye right from the driveway to the front steps. The steps themselves got a full hardscape treatment in a contrasting dark paver, which gives the entry a bold, finished look. And because this is a heated system, icy winter conditions aren't a concern. No salting, no scraping, no slipping. It just works.

Landscape lighting was placed throughout the planting beds along the walkway. Low-profile path lights handle the safety side of things, but they also add a ton of character after dark. Pair that with the fresh bed of dark mulch, a mix of hydrangeas, boxwoods, ornamental grasses, and natural boulders, and you've got a front yard that holds its own at any hour. We also seeded the lawn area and laid straw to protect it while it establishes - something we always do to give new grass the best shot at coming in thick and even.

This is exactly the kind of work we love doing. It's not just about aesthetics - it's about building something that functions better, holds up over time, and genuinely makes a homeowner's daily life easier. A well-designed entryway does all three.
